 This 7" features four alternate versions of some of Elliott Smith's greatest songs. With distinct production, instrumentation, and vocals, the recordings found on Alternate Versions offer a new perspective on one of Smith's most highly acclaimed albums, and separate them from the original cuts found on Either/Or.

 Track A1: Recorded in Elliott's basement in April 1996 and broadcast June 1, 1996, on Rob's Locals Show on KWVA 88.1 Eugene, OR. This was a simple live take with acoustic guitar and vocals. Mixed in 2012 at Jackpot! Recording Studio, Portland, OR. 

 Track A2: Recorded at either Elliott's house, Undercover, Inc. or the Heatmiser House between 1995 to 1996. Overdubs and additional production at The Shop. Mixed in 2010 at Jackpot! Recording Studio, Portland, OR. 

 Track B1: Recorded at either Elliott's house, Undercover, Inc. or the Heatmiser House between 1995 to 1996. Overdubs and additional production at The Shop. Mixed in 2012 at Jackpot! Recording Studio, Portland, OR. 

 Track B2: Recorded at either Elliott's house, Undercover, Inc. or the Heatmiser House between 1995 to 1996. Mixed in 2010 at Jackpot! Recording Studio, Portland, OR. This is a reworking of Stranger Than Fiction's "Punch and Judy" as released on the "waiting For The Second Hand" cassette in 1986.
