Description
For a brief moment in the early 1970s, there was a real magic being committed to tape down in the capital of Colombus, Ohio. Short for Capital City Soul, the Columbus, Ohio Capsoul label's history spans only five years throughout the 1970s. Founded by Bill Moss, a local singer and DJ at WVKO in Columbus, Capsoul released just a dozen 45's and one highly sought after LP resulting in a few regional hits. But the story of Capsoul is not the story of a handful of 45s or their chart position. It's intertwined with the life of founder Bill Moss, an activist, a preacher, a songwriter, an entrepreneur, a musician, a father, and, at one point, a criminal. These 20 jaw-dropping tracks magnificently illustrate the rise, fall, and resurrection of small label soul - and were so good they defined Eccentric Soul and launched the Numero Group.
